How To
Measure
All dimensions are taken with the garment laid flat on a clean surface. Double each half-measurement to get the full circumference.
| ① | Shoulder | Lay garment flat. Measure straight across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam. This is the full shoulder width as sewn. |
| ② | ½ Chest | Lay garment flat. Measure straight across the chest from armpit seam to armpit seam, approximately 1 inch below the armhole. Double for full chest circumference. |
| ③ | Sleeve Length | Lay sleeve flat. Measure from the center of the shoulder seam along the top of the sleeve to the end of the cuff. This is the sewn sleeve length. |
| ④ | Front Length | Lay garment flat. Measure from the highest point of the shoulder seam at the collar, straight down the center front to the bottom hem. |
| ⑤ | ½ Bottom | Lay garment flat. Measure straight across the hem from edge to edge. Double for the full hem circumference. Indicates how the jacket drapes at the waist. |
| ① | ½ Chest | Lay garment flat. Measure straight across the chest from armpit seam to armpit seam, approximately 1 inch below the armhole. Double for full chest circumference. |
| ② | Shoulder Width | Lay garment flat. Measure straight across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam. This is the full shoulder width as sewn. |
| ③ | Sleeve Length | Lay sleeve flat. Measure from the center of the shoulder seam along the top of the sleeve to the end of the cuff. This is the sewn sleeve length. |
| ④ | Body Length | Lay garment flat. Measure from the highest point of the shoulder seam at the collar straight down the center back to the bottom hem. |
| ① | ½ Waist | Fold trousers in half with the waistband lying completely flat and even — if the tag is visible, the waistband is not folded correctly. Measure seam to seam straight across. Double for full waist circumference. |
| ② | ½ Hip | Lay trousers flat. Measure straight across at the fullest point of the seat, approximately 8 inches below the top of the waistband. Double for full hip circumference. |
| ③ | Inseam | Lay trousers flat. Measure along the inner leg seam from the crotch seam to the bottom hem. This is the sewn inseam length. |
| ④ | Outseam | Lay trousers flat. Measure along the outer side seam from the top of the waistband to the bottom hem. Outseam minus inseam equals the rise. |
| ⑤ | Rise | Lay trousers flat. Measure from the top of the waistband straight down to the crotch seam. Front and back rise differ — check both if relevant to fit. |
Lay the garment on a flat, smooth surface. Ensure all seams are aligned and the fabric is free of bunching before measuring.
All measurements are taken with the garment laid flat. Half-measurements (½ chest, ½ waist, etc.) must be doubled to get the full circumference.
Measure point-to-point along the seam lines, not across the surface of the fabric. Keep the tape flat against the garment without stretching.
These are garment dimensions, not body dimensions. To find your size, compare garment measurements to your own body measurements plus your desired ease.
When between sizes, consider your preferred fit. Size up for a relaxed silhouette; size down for a more structured, fitted result.
